2020, two channel digital soundwork.
‘ltp’ is a series of experiments with the sounds from old 1/4 inch tapes. It was made from old, distressed ‘reel to reel’ audio tape recordings of irish television from the mid-60’s to mid-70’s… particularly showbands, comedians and actors. I was given these reels of tape and the Grundig player many were recorded on with many thanks to Sean Kelly and Mike Finn. Ltp is the first in a series of treatments of the 1/4 inch tapes which had broken down over time; often remnants of previous recordings remained, recordings on opposite side mixed together and recordings at different speeds, all on the one reel.
